It would’ve been different if I had courage, even an ounce of it. But I was a coward from the day I met you, Ryan Crowley. I still am. In the end it doesn’t matter. The bottom line is the same. It’s my fault.

When the unthinkable happens Carly Cavanough is left beaten, betrayed, and devastated. Her best friend doesn’t understand. Her parents won’t listen. Everyone in her life turns against her. She’s alone. Completely alone, except for Ryan Crowley, the boy she’s been crushing on for years. She won’t admit to him what she can’t admit to herself. But he understands without words. He knows more about what she’s going through than she can possibly imagine and he knows what it will take to start the healing.

With Ryan’s help Carly begins to piece together the fragments of her once perfect life and embarks on a journey of love and healing, just long enough for the rug to be pulled out from under her again. Can she find the strength and will to pull herself together to save Ryan and herself when their lives are on the line?

So loves, today we have the lovely Danielle here with us!

Hello Danielle, and welcome To We All Make Mistakes In Books! I’m Cynthia and this is Diana and we’re very excited to have you with us today.
Hi Thank you for having me, I’m thrilled to be here!

Want some cupcakes or cookies?

Cookies, please. But only if they’re chocolate chip, they’re my favorite.
*Good answer, that's our fav!*

First of all, can you tell us a bit about yourself?
I’m your pretty average mother of three, running around like a mad woman most days. But before the kids . . .  I did the Anthony Robbins Fire Walk, I met Derek Jeter on the field of Yankee Stadium, and I was an extra on a number one NBC sitcom.
*Now we're wondering what sitcom...*

Readers want to know what is To My Hero about?
To My Hero: A Blog of Our Journey Together. It is a tuff stuff book dealing with date rape and rebuilding a life after it. Carly Cavanough is left beaten, betrayed and devastated. Everyone in her life turns against her except Ryan Crowley, the boy she’s been crushing on for years. He finds her, helps her pick up the pieces, and move on. Ryan is also instrumental in helping Carly become empowered in the process.

Was it hard to write all the emotional parts of it? *We needed tissues for this, lots*
I love when people tell me my books make them cry. J Sorry!
I wouldn’t say the emotional parts were hard, but they were draining and after a tough scene I’d try to lose myself in happy music, especially One Direction. The hard part was trying to tell the story in a way that was both true to life and respectful. I didn’t want anyone reading it to feel exploited or that it sugar coated some of the issue these girls and women face.

What made you want to be a writer? Any book or author in particular?
The never ending voices in my head. I know most people say that and it’s a sign their sanity is slipping, a writer says it and it’s a sign of their creative genius. I digress. I’ve always loved getting lost in the drama taking place in my head. Characters I’ve read about, or created in my mind would go on incessantly bantering with each other.  Knowing that I could direct or change the conversation was fun. Writing has also been an outlet. A shy school girl, I found writing brought attention to me. Kids might not care about what I was doing, but my stories held them captive.

Can you describe Carly and Ryan to us? *If you have pictures, share them ;)*
Sorry, no pic of Carly, but I’d love to know how you see her. She is the pretty girl you pass in hall at school. She doesn’t like to be the center of attention but doesn’t want to be ignored either. She knows what she wants but backs down when an obstacle seems too large and has difficulty standing up to the people she loves. Carly doesn’t like confrontation and expects to be able to take people for face value. They should mean what they say and say what they mean.

Here’s how I see Ryan.  Ryan is confident and sure of himself. He doesn’t care what people say about him, he’ll neither confirm nor deny any rumors. He’s never at a loss for a date as girls seem to flock around him, and fighting seems to be one of his favorite pastimes. He’s loyal and loving to a fault, but isn’t a push over.

*Hello, there!*

So, we’re big fans of music. If you had to choose one song to represent the book, what would it be?
That’s tough, but I’d have to go with Just Give Me a Reason by Pink and Nate Ruess. I think it describes some of the problems and insecurities Ryan and Carly face in their relationship. While it talks to me of a relationship ripe with trust issues, there is still hope because no matter what they love each other.

Is there anything you’re working on right now that you can share with us?
I’m working on a few things. First I’m working on the Final book of the Heart Waves series, Waves of Love. I’m also working on another NA romance. It’s a little more grown up than my other books so far.  And I have a secret project I’m very excited about, but I’m not ready to announce it just yet. At least not until Waves of Love is completed.

And to finish this interview, Can you tell us about a time you made a Mistake that taught you something for life?
Wow, I’ve made so many. When I was a little girl and I picked up a paper towel, and it looked like it cut through a burning candle’s flame without catching on fire. After I repeated the action over and over again, the paper towel did in fact catch on fire. I learned many lessons that day.
1.       Don’t fan a paper towel over a burning candle.
2.       Don’t throw an item on fire into a plastic kitchen garbage pail (the sink would’ve been a much better option).
3.       When flames are shooting out of a garbage pail, trying to blow them out like a birthday candle just doesn’t work.
*Don't try this at home, kids! Trust her, is not good doing that!*

Thanks for stopping by Danielle and we hope to see you soon!
Thank you once again for having me. I had a blast!!!!
