I laugh. “Whatever you want Mallory. Whatever you want,” I say, barely holding it together.
“Challenge accepted,” she says grinning. This gives me a perfect view of her straight white teeth. Fuck, even those are pretty. God, who thinks teeth are pretty besides dentists? She puts on the first season of a show. A few hours and several episodes later, I'm hooked. It's hilarious.
“What is this?” I ask. I get really into the show, but every so often, I look over at Mallory and stare at her. Thankfully, she doesn’t see me. I am sure I look like a fucking creeper.
“The British version of The Office. I've seen the American one, but I think this one is funnier.”
“Don't you need to write?” I ask. She smiles brightly and her brown eyes shine with it.
“You know about that, huh?”
“Margo told me,” I say, laughing.
“Oh Lordy, I can just imagine what she said. I do need to write, but I’m having a better time with you,” she says, smiling yet again. I can’t help smiling as well.
“Me too.” Right then, my grumbling stomach reminds me that I haven't eaten since five this morning. “So, what's good to eat around here?”
“Is this your first time in New York?” she asks, tapping her finger on her chin. Damn, she is adorable.
“Yes,” I say, nodding.
“Well then, pizza of course. Do you want to go out or order in?”
“Order in. I'm exhausted from traveling today.” I'm still leery of social situations, I know that I'm cringing, but she doesn't say anything. She just nods understandingly.
“Okay,” she says. “I know the perfect place to order from. What kind do you want?”
“Pepperoni and mushroom,” I reply.
“Ooh, me too,” she says, and I listen as she grabs her phone and orders two large pies.
“That's ambitious,” I say when she hangs up.
“What?”
“Two large pies? How are you ever going to eat that much?”
“You'd be surprised; besides, I love leftover pizza.” She shrugs as she gets up from the couch and heads into the kitchen. “I have red wine or Foster's,” she yells. I already don’t like that she is out of my sight.

Must Love Coffee - Review

10:00 AM 0 Comments

The first book in the highly anticipated 425 Madison series is now live! Read MUST LOVE COFFEE by Leigh Lennon today.

Must Love Coffe by Leigh Lennon

Gwen
I was stripped of all my own desires and wants when I was married to my ex-husband. I now carry a list with me—a list that will help me choose a man that will put me first in life. Then the storm cloud of an entitled millionaire appears in my life and knocks me off my axis. This man sends so many mixed signals, my body either quakes with anger or passion when I’m around him.

I'm his son's teacher and his tenant, but I find myself wanting more.

Leo
My life is run with precision with little regard for others until a woman in crazy clothes challenges me to be a better father. She’s one of the few people that puts me in my place and maybe for this very reason—I want her more than I can articulate. With her failed marriage and list of requests she needs from her next partner, I know she’s my future. My life is less than perfect, and with it—baggage that follows me everywhere. Does she want my kind of crazy in her life?

I'm her landlord and an a**hole, but  I find myself wanting more.

Where to begin? For starters, you must love coffee...

After all, 425 Madison Avenue is the perfect place to fall in love.

*Each story is completely standalone.

Goodreads

Welcome to 425 Madison Avenue, where anything can happen.

Must Love Coffee is such a cute, feel good story! I love every minute of it!

Gwen is a teacher who's struggling to be herself again and trying to find love after her ex husband from hell. She's a total fan girl at heart and the best mom.

Leo is trying to get thrpugh life invested in his job. He barealy has time for his family.

I love that these two were so much more than the first impresions you get from them (hint: check the excerpt below!). Gwen is actually such a strong character, she's caring and loving but she's also really fun and totally not what you expect from your sweet school teacher. I was pleasently surprise by her. Leo first comes off as a total Alpha guy and he really isn't. He's super sweet. He loves his kids so much and he tries to give everything to Gwen.

This book was a total feel-good romance. Gwen and Leo hit it off right from the begging and I really loved how the story is not just about them, their kids, all three of them get a bit of a spotlight and help the story move forward. Even the judge was a great adition to the story.

My favourite part was probably how the book moved and and how the drama was handle. You know that part of the book were the main couple breaks up over something and they are miserable and super stuborn about it, and you just feel like yelling and knocking some sense into them? Well this isn't the case! Everything felt so natural and realistic I loved every word.

I can't wait to see more about what happens to the good people of 425 Madison and get glimpses of Gwen, Leo and the kids.
Excerpt
Gwen:

Leo stands with so much force it pushes his chair over, bumping the table and knocking some of Teague’s test results to the floor.

“Mason, this teacher is clearly incompetent and I want her replaced—no, fuck that—I want her fired.”

I don’t give Mason much time to reply. I stand just as fast and, though he has a good six inches on me,  I’m in his face.

“Okay, Mr. Eastman, you want me fired so badly, answer me this. How much time do you spend with Teague each day on his homework? I’ve sent home small readers with questions to be answered each day, even if you have to write the responses for him. I’ve never gotten a completed form in return.” As I speak, the harsh teacher tone takes over and demands his attention. I don’t miss how his hands curl into fists when I continue. “I’ve sent him home with a phonetical set of flash cards and a completion sheet. After ten times, he gets a reward. I have yet to receive that back. The same goes for number recognition. So, you tell me I’m not doing my job. But, since turnabout is fair play, how are you doing on your end? It takes a village, Mr. Eastman. Let me know when you move in and we can talk.”

Leo:

How is it that a man who has access to countless hot women wakes on the morning of his kid’s playdate like it’s fucking Christmas? And with a jolly ripe boner at the thought of his son’s teacher. Yeah, this guy here. I’m not ashamed of it but is it appropriate to ask this woman out while we are essentially chaperoning our daughters? See, I haven’t always been a manwhore. With Dez, I was the most committed father and husband—I only had eyes for her. And maybe these new feelings make it obvious I’m ready to start over again.

With the first glance at my phone, I’m accosted with a shit-ton of texts from Donna. She invited me over last night but I’d told her I was taking my kids to the movies. This crazy, bleached-blonde tried to invite herself with us to see Venom. She had no idea it was a Marvel movie, in addition to being oblivious to the fact that I’d never let her get within arm’s reach of my kids. A good fuck she’s been but that’s all she ever could be. And now, after imagining the teacher as a person I want more than sex with, I’m on the offensive with today’s playdate. But don’t fucking get me wrong—I sure as fuck want to fill her up—but I want more than that. I can’t fucking believe that I, Leo Eastman, am admitting to this.

Shit, shit, shit. But it’s true.

Excerpt - Chapter 4

The show’s host called the temptresses individually to do one-on-one interviews. Lead Enforcer Gonad had informed them when they arrived about the rules and how the set-up of the show would go.
During the first three weeks, the six chosen male candidates had to choose three temptresses to go on dates with. After that, they would choose one to spend the remainder of the Trials with. There were ten temptresses, so four would get sent home.
After the Trials were over, the six chosen original couples had to decide if they still wanted to stay together—to be Soul-bound, as they called it. Both people had to be in agreement. If one person in the relationship didn’t want to reconcile, then they had to marry their final choices from the island. As for the tempters and temptresses, they didn’t get a say.
Being chosen as a contestant on the show gave everyone more of a choice than the rest of the nation got. By law, at the age of twenty-one every citizen had to fill out a marriage application, and then, viola—the regime chose your spouse and you were married for life. Divorce was no longer allowed.
Their host, Zimmerman, bounced on his heels as he approached Sahara. She took in his appearance not knowing what to think. His silver-blond hair was pulled back in a ponytail. He wore similar shades to the enforcement, but his were slightly thinner. His black suit looked like it cost the monthly income of someone in the almost non-existent middle class.
Showing his immaculate white teeth, he clasped his hands together. “Ms. Fenty, aren’t you a beauty. I’ll be your Temptation Trials host for the duration of the show. I will be traveling back and forth among the three islands, hosting the episodes.” Sahara nodded. “Follow me to my office.”
Once inside, he directed her to have a seat in a plush chair across from his huge wooden desk. An enforcer walked over to stand in the corner of the room. Sahara swallowed hard, spotting a cameraman prepared to record their discussion.
Plopping down in his large leather chair, Zimmerman began. “This is an interview used as an intro into episode one.”
“What will you be asking me?” Sahara wondered.
“That’s a good question.” Zimmerman’s smile widened. “Just standard stuff—similar to your answers on the Trials application.”
Sahara cringed, recalling filling out her Trials app for the show. Those questions were gruesome. They claimed that the app sought personal criteria to match your compatibility, but as the application went on, the questions got very intimate.
“What do these questions pertain to?”
“Look at it as a way for the nation to get to know you.”
“I thought I was here for the guys to get to know me.” Since Zimmerman wore sunglasses, it was hard to be sure, but Sahara swore that he was smirking at her.
“That’s true, but since the nation is watching, we’d like for them to get to know you, too.”
“Are these yes or no questions?”
“The questions will allow you to explain your answers.”
Great! This sounded like more probing.
“Well now, let’s begin. The first one is for general character. How would you describe yourself in one word?”
“Only one word?” Sahara shifted in her seat. Zimmerman nodded. “I would say determined.” He chuckled, but Sahara didn’t see what was amusing.
“Determined about success in life or fulfilling your dreams?”
“Both.”
Zimmerman clasped his hands together, then he lifted a small black electronic tablet. “Let’s get to the more intriguing questions. If you married your soulmate and your spouse died, do you believe that you could ever fall in love again?” He leaned back in his chair, waiting for her reply.
“Well, that’s kinda hard to say. I don’t believe in soulmates.”
He raised his platinum eyebrows. “Really? Well, enlighten us.”
Sahara sighed, not wanting to go into details about not being sure if true love existed.
Was love real if it could be ripped away from you so easily?
“I don’t know enough on the subject to speak honestly,” Sahara said instead.
“We’ll let you throw in the towel on it for now.” Zimmerman glanced at his electronic tablet, and then back at her. “Do you believe that you can be in love with two people at the same time?”
Hell, she wasn’t sold on the idea of love at all, let alone loving two people at once. “Nope, I don’t.”
“Next question, what sin do you think is worse, envy or greed?”
“I guess it would depend on the extent of someone’s envy or greed. If a person was envious and wanted revenge, that could be disastrous. Or if someone was greedy enough to commit robbery or steal, that could also end in a catastrophe.”
“A point well made.”
“Do you believe that twenty-one is too young for marriage?”
“Yes.”
“Do you believe in giving a person a second chance if they make a mistake?”
“It depends on what it is they’ve done.”
Taking a quick glimpse at his tablet, Zimmerman asked, “This is an interesting one. If you had to choose if one child was burned alive or three adults were stabbed to death, which situation would you choose? Saving the one child’s life or the three adults?”
This was some sick query shit. What would her answer prove? Would the nation judge her by her reply? “That’s difficult to answer.”
“Well, try.”
“I’m not sure if I can.”
Zimmerman scratched his temple. “Humm … that’s a shame. The more questions you answer honestly, the better the chance of the public getting to know you. It may even help for when you return. I have heard you’ve had a rough time lately.”
It took a moment for Sahara to register what he was saying, and then her mouth dropped open. The bastard was trying to throw the past in her face. Taking a deep breath, she replied, “I would say that all human life is equal, but in that case, I would choose to save the baby from burning.”
“So you would choose to save one life over three?”
“The three adults have already lived—the baby’s life has just begun. So yes, in that scenario, I would.”
“Interesting take on the situation.”
Sahara narrowed her eyes. “Will that be all?” She’d cooperated, and now she wanted to leave. She had just met the man, and he’d already shown that he didn’t play nice.
“That’s all for now, Ms. Fenty. I’ll see you soon, when it’s time for the tempting to begin.”
Sahara shook her head as she left the office. She was in for a tidal wave of drama if this man was any indication of what the Trials held.

Temptation Trials Rebellion (The Tempted Series #2)

Genre: Dystopian Romance
Age category: New Adult
Release Date: November 30, 2018

Can love defeat the greatest temptation ... lust?

In a post-apocalyptic nation where the land of the free is now run under a dictatorship, there is one factor that holds the key to keeping world order—love. The new Regime controls the emotions of the heart. It’s their most vital law. At the age of twenty-one, every citizen is forced into an arranged marriage. The only way to escape the arrangement is to enter the Temptation Trials—a government-sponsored reality TV show where the loyalties of the contestants are tested by Tempters and Temptresses who are impossible to resist.

Catalina enters the Trials as a Temptress in hopes that she can win the funds to save her brother. Sahara’s been ridiculed in the eyes of the public. By being a Temptress, she’ll be able to have a fresh start. The Regime promises that if she fulfills her role on the show they will wipe her slate clean.

The problem is that the Trials are rigged for failure. In all the prior seasons, love’s rival, lust, has proven to be more powerful. No contestant has ever won the Temptation Trials and be allowed to stay with their chosen partner. Lutheran Eminence, the world’s dictator, has shown that he’s the ultimate matchmaker.

As the Temptation Ball approaches, conflict is at an all-time high. Most couples are too hurt by betrayal to reconcile. With the odds stacked against them, Kincade and Tobias try to mend their relationships, hoping that the greater good will prevail.

Attempting to uncover the true meaning of love may cost the contestants more than they bargained for—it may cost their souls.

The apartment was small—one room and probably barely legal—so it only took a few seconds to follow the coughing to the person on the floor near the window. While Aidan did a quick check of the bathroom and under the bed to make sure there was nobody else, Grant crouched down next to the person he was pretty sure was a woman, despite having a throw blanket over her head.
“Fire department,” he said. “Let’s get you out of here.”
Her cough was so weak and ineffectual, he didn’t bother asking if she could get up and walk. Instead he rolled her, intending to lift her and carry her out.
Then the throw blanket slipped away from a sleep-tangled mess of blonde curls, revealing dark blue eyes he saw in his dreams, and Grant’s world stopped.
“Wren.”
He hadn’t seen her in five months, since she’d told him on the phone she didn’t want to see him anymore and then ghosted. No explanation. No compromise. Nothing but five months of a broken heart that hadn’t even begun to heal yet.
What the hell was she doing in this place?
Grant. Her mouth formed his name, though no sound got through her constricted throat. The grayish cast of her skin and lips terrified him, and he started to hoist her up.
Aidan was at his side. “I’ll carry her out.”
“I’ve got her.” Despite the shock and pain from seeing her again, Grant wanted to hold her. He wanted to cradle her in his arms and feel that sense of contentment holding her had always brought him in the past.
There was no time for that. After draping her over his shoulder, he stood and headed for the door. It wouldn’t be a comfortable ride for her, but the only thing that mattered right now was getting her out of the building and to an ambulance, where they could give her oxygen. Her body had gone totally limp by the time he reached the stairs, but he refused to consider the possibility she’d need medical care beyond that.
They’d gotten there in time, and that’s all there was to it.
He heard voices in his radio and was aware Aidan stayed right behind him, but Grant didn’t stop moving until he hit the clear, frigid air.
He paused to get his bearings and then headed for the ambulances on standby. Some of those voices in his radio must have warned them he was coming, because Cait opened the back of her truck and waved at him.
Cait Tasker was not only an EMT, but she was engaged to Gavin Boudreau, who was Grant’s best friend and with the Ladder 37 crew. E-59 and L-37 were parked side-by-side in the firehouse and always rolled out together, so Gavin was on scene, too. And Cait knew Wren. The four of them had spent a lot of time together before Wren walked away from him and didn’t look back.
By the time he reached the ambulance doors, he could feel her stirring. Not a lot, but she had to be breathing in order to regain consciousness and that was enough for now.
Because it was so damn cold and she was small, they didn’t bother with the stretcher. He handed Wren up to Cait’s partner, Tony, who turned away with her.
“Oh my God, Grant.” Cait looked at him, her expression mirroring his thoughts. “What the hell was Wren doing living here?”
“I don’t know. She’ll be okay, right?”
“We’ll take care of her. Are you okay?”
He didn’t answer. As he watched Tony fit a mask over Wren’s face, her eyes met his and, no, he wasn’t okay.
Questions tumbled through his mind. Why was Wren living in this place? Why had she disappeared from his life so abruptly? How could she still be in the city and not miss him enough to at least send a text message?
Had she known he’d been days away from buying her a ring and asking her to spend the rest of her life with him?
