Try Me Review

Try Me by Diane Alberts

Publisher: Entangled Publishing (Ever After)
Published: May 24th 2012

What happens in Vegas…can lead to romance.

It took one wild night for Sergeant Jeremy Addison to realize that Vegas? Was a bad idea.
Bloody. Bruised. Dehydrated. Abandoned in the desert, and left to stagger down the road. The only way this leave could get worse was if his savior was his ex-best friend’s sister…and the girl he’d loved since childhood.

The last person Erica expected to find on the roadside was her high school crush. She hadn’t seen Jeremy in seven years—ever since the night he said he loved her, and she ran away. Losing him then had been a mistake, but wanting him now could be catastrophic if he discovered the secret that chased every other man from her life. But with a tall, tattooed Marine determined to prove he’s always been faithful, can Erica resist his advances…or will she surrender ground and give love a try?

Are you done staring at the cover?
Sure let's stare for a bit more...

Ok, time to move on to what's underneath, I promise we'll stare again after.

Diane Alberts writer beatiful stories. They're sweet and steamy. And this short story has it all.

Jeremy doesn't think he's good enough for anyone after he lost his two only friends 7 years ago, especially not good enough for Erika, his ex-best friend's little sister.
Let me describe him for you: He's a Marine, he's hot, tattooed, and doesn't mind getting into fist-fights now and then. He gots shot as a living after all.
Oh! Did I mention he can cook like a God? Well, he can. He's kind of the perfect bad boy with a swet touch.

Erika is sure no man can love her after what happened and regrets turning back on Jeremy all those years ago. She's a workaholic. That's the one thing she can trust and that keeps her moving foward.
Once you get to know her though, you just want to tell her that everything in going to be ok and maybe give her a hug or two.
Ok, you want to hug her and say "Shh, it'll be ok".

Both of them are hurt and scared of letting the other in but maybe what they have can heal them, if they try...

This is a Diane Alberts book, so it has some pretty awesome humor in it! There's one scene in particular that had me laughing out loud.

It goes something like this:

Tommy (Erika’s brother): “What the hell happened to you?”
Jeremy: “Nothing, really. Latest girl got a little rough. She took ‘playing hard to get’ a little too literally, if you know what I mean.”
Tommy: “That girl last night wouldn’t happen to be my sister, would she?”
Jeremy: “Why would you think that?”
Tommy: “Because you’re wearing my clothes, idiot.”

Aaaaaannnddd we all go: OOPS!!
A little awkward there, Jeremy forgot what he was wearing, but hey! Itv was fun!

The book is in 3rd person but each chapter switches focus between the two characters. I loved that little detail because I got to enter into both characters' heads, learn how they felt, what were they thinking, and see how scared they were of getting hurt again.

If there's one bad thing I have to say about the book is: It was too short! I'd have liked to see more of them, before and after (then again, I love long books in long series). Honestly, the 8 chapters made the story perfect: short and sweet with characters that you'll love.

And it does belongs to a series: Take a Chance. The next one will follow Tommy's story, so stay tuned!
